LibreOffice Previews in ownCloud on OpenELEC

This is going to be another blog a little different from our usual topics. It’s not even remotely related to either the portfolio or the business segment of openfellas. However, since I have spent a long time pottering around with this particular issue, I would like to publish my results through this blog. It may help others to save time, if they plan on doing something along the same lines.

The Truth – what we always have known about ERP and the costs involved

What is Odoo’s advantage over Navision and SAP. Every company needs to manage its resources so as to use them in the best and most profitable way. Specialized software is available for this Enterprise Resource Planning or ERP, helping to keep track of the financial and human capital as well as the existing technology in your company.

The Outlook Connector is dead, long live the Outlook Connector

If you are familiar with odoo or OpenERP and have used or are still using Version 7 or below you will also know the Outlook Connector, a feature of the standard package for many years.

Our View on odoo License Changes

As you may imagine, this caused an informed and sometimes quite emotional discussion that has been going since December 2014. Many modules currently part of the core package have been developed within the Open Source License. The partners now fear that odoo has succumbed to a possible monetary windfall and will now start to close the system.

So many shop connections for odoo – which plug is the right one?

There are all sorts of shop connections to odoo (OpenERP) out there. So how do you decide which one to chose? The obvious key question here is, from whose point of view the connection was originally considered. It may be plausible that you need to be able to create sales orders for orders placed in the shop, to update customer data or to reconcile products and inventory in every ERP. However, when it comes to products, orders and shipments, bills of materials alone introduce a not inconsiderable complexity factor, since every ERP system handles them quite differently.

On the functional range of odoo’s Shopware Connector

Odoo Shopware Connector is based on the framework developed by Camptocamp and Axelor. As described in the previous blog article, the connection to Shopware is based on the Magento Community Module which is technically divided into two components: a framework and a shop-specific part. This part is responsible for the translation of odoo functionalities into the API provided by the shop. You could almost say, for all intents and purposes, that this is the actual Connector. We replaced it and adapted it to the Shopware API.
